From Old Aurora Erwo to P1SC, My Creation's Advanced Path

The first connection with 3D printing dates back to 2024, when I encountered an old Aurora Erwo equipment in the company workshop, an old model manufactured in 2016. At first glance, I only felt that this machine was precise and advanced. I was curious but completely clueless. I skipped manual leveling and hastily started printing, and without any accidents, I blocked the head directly. I stumbled at first contact and quietly planted the seeds of researching 3D printing.
The company equipment will eventually be shared, and I can't let go of my passion. In 2025, I bought my first printer P1SC. After repeated debugging and calibration, the machine smoothly squeezed out consumables and produced my first complete product - a small and cute Doraemon. Watching the delicate and smooth lines of the ornaments placed on the table, the sense of achievement created by myself was overwhelming, making me completely immersed in the fun of stacking them layer by layer.
On weekdays, I prefer two types of works: cute figurines that are soft and healing, and practical tools that can be used at home. When getting started, I took a lot of beginner's detours: I didn't understand the need for support for complex models, and my printed copies were messy and scrambled; I have also tried low-quality consumables, which frequently clog after two uses. I can only repeatedly disassemble the hot end and practice cold drawing cleaning. Through repeated disassembly and repair of the machine, I have gained a thorough understanding of its structure. In the past, I was at a loss when faced with faults, but now I can handle all kinds of small problems with ease.
For me, 3D printing is not just a technical hobby, but also a gentle and romantic hidden in the details. Most of my printing time now is spent making various figurines for my wife. The silk material is stacked layer by layer to form, and what is printed is not only an exquisite model, but also a unique sentiment from ordinary days. This journey of 3D printing began with a mishap of the company's old printer and ended with every exclusive little surprise prepared for loved ones.

Designer Story Vol.01

——Behind every model, there is a creator worth seeing
Designer Card
Designer: TK tang
Creative Direction: Functional Models | Storage Design | Life Creativity
Creative keywords: practical, multifunctional, low support, easy to print
📜 Introduction
Some people come into contact with 3D printing to make money, while others stay in 3D printing because of their passion. TK tang belongs to the latter. At the beginning of the interview, we asked her, "What kind of work do you mainly do now?" She didn't hesitate and replied, "What I do must be practical first." With just one sentence, we also understood the biggest difference between her and many designers. In her eyes, a good model should not only look good, but also truly integrate into life.
💡 The first time she was exposed to 3D printing, she saw a dragon that "grew out"
Three years ago, by chance, she followed her relatives into the factory and saw a 3D printer for the first time. The machine is working, stacking materials layer by layer, and a printing dragon is slowly forming. At that time, I felt it was particularly magical. For her, who already loves design, the biggest shock of that moment was not the machine, but finally discovering that the ideas in her mind could really become reality. Since then, she began learning slicing, printing, and modeling, and truly entered the world of 3D printing.
💻 From designers to people who do everything
Later, she and her partner owned twenty printers. But with more and more printers, she has less and less time to create. Modeling, slicing, taking product pictures, operating the store, responding to customers, shipping, after-sales service... originally the job of a designer, gradually became one person supporting the entire operation process. In order to catch up with orders, the machine printed continuously for more than ten hours, and she had to get up in the middle of the night to change to the next plate for printing. She recalled that experience with a smile, but also candidly said, 'Later on, I realized that I was doing business every day, but I had less and less time to create.' That was the first time she realized that she was slowly moving away from the reason why she used to love 3D printing.
🛠 She sold 20 printers but didn't leave 3D printing
Later, for various reasons, she sold all the printers and only kept four to accompany herself. Many people think that means it's over. But for her, it's more like starting over. After leaving the tedious work, she finally sat down again and seriously thought about a question: If I didn't have to consider orders, what would I most like to design? The answer is simple. Still those models that can truly solve life problems.
She began to observe the people around her. What do friends need? What is missing at home? Is there something that can be made more convenient through one's own design? Inspiration comes back little by little like this. What she likes has never been a hit. In the interview, we asked her, 'What do you think a good model should look like?' Her answer was without any hesitation. Firstly, it's important to print. "" Try to minimize or even eliminate support. "" It's best to have two or more functions. "In her opinion, design is not meant to showcase skills. Truly good works should enable more people to easily print and use them. A stand that can accommodate storage. A storage box can also have more uses. What she hopes others will remember more is not a particular work, but: "When I want to print practical models, I think of my homepage
😊 The happiest time of creation is not when you win awards
Many people believe that the happiest time for creators is when their works win awards or have high downloads. But she shook her head. She said that what really makes her happy is the entire creative process. Starting from conception. To model, print, test, take photos, and then share on social media platforms. She enjoyed every step of it. She smiled and said, 'After taking photos of my work, my happiness actually ends. Then, I start preparing for the next piece.' We suddenly understood. What truly sustains her to this day has never been data or rewards. But rather the creation itself.
Finally, we asked her a question. If we were to go back three years when we first started learning about 3D printing, what would you most like to say to yourself? She thought for a moment and answered seriously, "You still have to follow your original intention. What you really like will keep pushing you forward
🖋 Editor's Notes
At the end of the interview, she had already arrived at Disney. We originally thought this would be a chat about entrepreneurship and 3D printing. At the end of the conversation, I realized that what truly made people remember were not the 20 printers or those busy days. But rather a creator's original intention that has never changed. She enjoys design, creation, and the process of turning every idea into reality. This is also the reason why MAKEROAD wants to open Designer Story. Because behind every model, there is a creator worth seeing. And we hope to tell their stories to more people.
